Basic Tomato Sauce

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 large tin tomatoes – chopped
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 onion – chopped
  • 1 clove garlic – chopped
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Pinch mixed herbs
  • Pepper to taste

EQUIPMENT:

  • Tablespoon
  • Saucepan
  • Sharp knife
  • Chopping board
  • Tin opener
  • Wooden Spoon

METHOD:

  • Heat the oil in a pan
  • Add the onions and garlic, if using. Cook until soft
  • Add the tinned tomatoes, tomato puree, mixed herbs, salt and pepper
  • Cook on a low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally

This sauce can be used on its own or add to tuna/pasta/vegetables.
