Fruity Rice Pudding

Serves 4


  • 60g (2oz) Pudding rice
  • 600ml (1pt) Semi-skimmed milk
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) Sugar (optional)
  • ½ Tin peaches in juice
  • ½ Tin pears in juice
  • 5ml (1tsp) Vanilla extract


  • Saucepan
  • Measuring jug
  • Tablespoon
  • Teaspoon
  • Scales
  • Stirring spoon


  • Put the rice, milk and sugar in a heavy bottomed saucepan
  • Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally
  • Roughly chop the tinned fruit up and put in a pan with a little of the juice and bring to the boil for about 5 minutes
  • Mash the fruit and mix with the rice pudding when ready
